Baptism |
I was interviewing some candidates for baptism this weekend, and it got me to thinking about my kid brother's baptism.
He was baptized a couple of years ago - saved as an adult, the Lord used me to bring him home - and when I lifted him out of the water I think there was more joy in my heart than could have possibly been in his.
It was like winning the superbowl - we both had smiles from ear to ear - and as the congregation sang that doctrinally skewed chorus "I have decided to follow Jesus" we clasped hands together and raised them over our heads like little boys who just won the big game - I could have given one of those party yells that all guys seem to do - you know the WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO! sort of yell - and it would have been entirely in line with how I loved the Lord and my brother in that moment.
Boy that is a sweet memory. I love to see a baptism where someone comes out of the water more on fire than when they went under. |
